Shipwreck post "OF12"

Shipwreck post "OF12"

At this point is shipwreck pole "OF12", recognisable by a striped pole (white/blue) with a red image of a ship on it. It concerns remains of a watercraft (type of fishing vessel) over 20 metres long and 6.6 metres wide, wrecked around 1600. The wreck lies preserved in the seabed.

Hundreds of shipwrecks were found during the reclamation of Flevoland. Often the ships date from the 17th and 18th centuries. Flevoland is the largest reclaimed shipwreck graveyard in the world. You can see these shipwreck piles, among others, when you cycle the shipwreck route through Lelystad. Some of the shipwreck posts feature a QR code, which after scanning gives more information about the particular wreck. Shipwreck post "OF12" does not have such a QR code.
